1950 Porsche 356

First produced in 1948 in Gmünd Austria,with an aluminium body designed by Erwin Komenda, the Porsche 356 was the first production vehicle manufactured by Porsche. The first Porsche 356 cars were fitted with a 4 cylinder horizontally opposed 1.1 L air cooled rear mounted engine developing 40 PS (39.5 bhp). The major components including engine, chassis and suspension were derived from Volkswagen. The body changed to steel construction, when production of the vehicle was relocated to Zuffenhausen Germany in 1950.

1961 Porsche 356B

The Porsche 356 was produced from 1948 through to 1965. Improvements in design resulted in the later Porsche 356 cars being fitted with a 2.0 L DOHC (double overhead camshafts) engine developing 130 PS (128 bhp).
